Grupo SyeCThe numerical simulation, along with theory and experimentation, are the three basic paradigms for advancement in many fields of science and engineering. The supercomputers are tools for the simulation of complex processes.

The supercomputers of the future will be built from thousands of chips, each containing hundreds of processors, interconnected by very fast interconnection networks.

Globally, we can think of systems that take 5 years to reach millions of processors, with speeds exceeding the Petaflops/s, with Petabytes of memory and interconnection networks between multiple processors with speeds Petabit/s. The advancement of supercomputing is only possible through close collaboration between users and designers of hardware and software of these machines.
